Nashville's music community cares. When one of their own falls ill/passes away, always expect an outpouring of support. This was the case when Tom Shinness recently passed away. Organized by John Haring and Rusty Russell this celebration of life featured performances by Ginger Shinness, Ginger Shinness, Keb Mo, Jack Pearson, Phil Keaggy, Annie Sellick/Pat Bergeson, New North (Damien Horne/Krista Marie), Beth Garner, and supporting musicians such as Roy “Futureman” Wooten, Jim Hoke, Sarah Clanton, Katie Blomarz, Michael Morton Flute, Rusty Russell, and more.

When the benefit was first planned Tom was still living and wanted to perform. However he did not make it but was well represented by Ginger Shinness, Heather Shinness, and Jasmine Cheri Shinness.

After an introduction by John Haring the first performance was by Jasmine Cheri Shinness with support from Futureman, Phil Keaggy, Jim Hoke, Katie Blomarz, et al.

Then a great performance by New North with Futureman, Jim Hoke, Sarah Clanton, Michael Morton Flute, et al. Followed by a hot performance by Beth Garner.

Then Annie Sellick and Pat Bergeson in an acoustic duo. Annie was angelic in white to express the feeling of Tom's that no mourning was to be done this night. Just celebrating his life with the joy of music.

Next was Jack Pearson with a lil help from his friend Pat Bergeson. They put on a display of guitar magic. Included in this gallery is a video of Jack/Pat tearing up “I feel Alright”. Jack finished his set with a beautiful jazz tune accompanied by Katie Blomarz on stand up bass.

Phil Keaggy was next with more amazing guitar work and beautiful vocals by Jasmine Shinness. 

The headliner Keb Mo was simply incredible. The opportunity to see him up close and personal in such an intimate venue was a treat.

Ginger Shinness closed the show with a beautiful solo acoustic with her ukulele. It is a certainty that Tom Shinness was smiling that night at the love and music offered up in his memory.
