It's fortunate that The Augustines, a band that was recently on the verge of calling it quits, managed to find their way to recording their sophomore album, "Augustines." This past Monday night saw them in top form as Billy McCarthy (lead vocals & guitar), Rob Allen (drums) and Eric Sanderson (bass, keys & guitar) rolled through San Francisco with a stop at The Independent in San Francisco.

Galactic w/ Maggie Koerner and Ryan Montblue
Galactic played on February 12, 2014 at the 20th Century Theater with special guest Maggie Koerner. I must say, I have never heard Galactic perform so well. I have seen Galactic at several festivals this year but this performance really stood out. Maggie Koerner has an amazing voice and blends well with the funk grooves of Galactic. More information is available at galacticfunk.com. Ryan Montblue opened the show with a great set as well.

Rebelution at the Madison Theater
Rebelution came to the Madison Theater on February 8, 2014 to play for a sold out crowd last Saturday night. I noticed that there were lots of Cincinnati Bengals running around before the show. It turns out they were having an end of the season party upstairs in the balcony for the performance. Domata Peko, a defensive tackle for the Bengals, introduced the team and brought about 8 other team members up on stage to kick off the night. The home town crowd went wild and Rebelution went into a great set of old and new songs. See what the band is up to at www.rebelutionmusic.com

G Love & Special Sauce Open Tour at 20th Century Theater
G Love & Special Sauce are doing a reunion tour that kicked off this week at the 20th Century Theater in Cincinnati. Even a few inches of snow didn't hold off the near sold out crowd for this old triplet getting back together. In honor of the evening, they announced right away that they were going to play their first album in its entirety. G Love & Special Sauce have a new album coming out on April 22, 2014 entitled Sugar.

Marty Stuart…he is the heart of Country Music
By Butchie (Butch Worrell)
Nashville, TN
Once the King of Country music was Roy Acuff, then Porter Waggoner succeeded him. Now the true King of country is Marty Stuart. Not just because he is a great instrumentalist, or a great vocalist, or even a great songwriter, it is because his heart is the biggest and the best.
