Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero, otherwise known as Rodrigo y Gabriela, made their first trip to Charlotte, NC this past Wednesday August 6 to perform for an intrigued crowd at the Fillmore.

The duo is on tour backing their latest release "9 Dead Alive". Their set consisted of an array of new and old instrumentals along with a handful of covers. "Stairway to Heaven" and Metallica's "Orion" played like you've never heard them played before. With roots in the generes of flamenco, rock, and heavy metal they deliver quite an energetic acoustic performance, typically played on classical guitars. The technical ability of these two musicians is unmatched. Rodrigo is pinpoint precise in his lead style of playing while Gabriela, equally as talented, tends to have a more free flowing percussive style in her playing. Everything is fair game on her guitar for playing...with her fingers, hands, and knuckles. An absolute sight to see!
