Bye, Bye Miss American Pie

By Butchie (Butch Worrell)

Don McClean made a comment about the meaning of “Bye, Bye Miss American Pie” from the stage last night at the Franklin Theatre.

A song that made it’s debut in 1971 at the end of one of the most turbulent eras in American history, it captured the mood of a generation of Americans like no other song did. It has been discussed and dissected like no other song before or since. Yet Don McClean is not a one hit wonder as he proved to the audience. It was an excellent show and those that attended will not soon forget just show great an artist Don McClean is. And the meaning of the song according to Don? “It meant I never had to worry about working again”
