| The Wood Brothers |
Friday afternoon at All Good Music Festival and Campout 2012 emphasized a variety of musical
genres. You had reggae and funk, and then you had some deep folky Americana music performed by three piece band called The Wood Brothers. Two brothers, Chris and Oliver, came together to
collaborate after each had already established their own music career. Chris Wood is a founding
member of Medeski, Martin, and Wood, and Oliver co-founded the band King Johnson.
With each having their own musical strengths, the chemistry on stage between them was something that only kin could manage to bring together. The siblings were joined by multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix on drums.
The sound that emanated from this group on a beautiful afternoon was as deeply calming as a standup
bass and guitar combination can be.

They sang bluesy songs that had such raw emotion and musicianship; the musical talent radiating off of these guys was astounding. The crowd in attendance was truly appreciative of the acoustic nature of this performance as it provided such a dramatic contrast from the extreme party atmosphere that they knew was going to define that night and the rest of the weekend; it was almost a calm before the storm. Anyone who is a fan of MMW and folk music in general could respect if not thoroughly enjoy this fusion of talent bestowed upon the audience this fine Ohio afternoon.

The Wood Brothers have been performing together since 2005 with the release of their first EP entitled Live at Tonic. Since then they have put out five other releases including the recent 2012 CD Live: Volume One: Sky High. The Wood Brothers’ live shows can truly be an amazing spectacle. The Wood Brothers will be on tour in Europe this May!
