Elton John: Greatest Hits Tour

Elton John returned to perform at Johnson City's Freedom Hall on September 16th after a 12 year hiatus. Freedom Hall has had its share of big acts (Aerosmith, The Eagles, Elvis Presley) but Elton John was the biggest act to perform there in quite some time. Needless to say the show sold out in a matter of hours.  The crowd was certainly appreciative of having a performer of that magnitude come to their small town and they showed it! 

The opening act was the YouTube sensation 2Cellos from Croatia. The performed quite a raucous set including a cover of Highway to Hell by AC/DC. The capacity crowd ate it up and leapt to their feet!
The cheering continued while Elton walked onstage and kicked off the show. Elton certainly lived up to his reputation of putting on a stellar show, with a setlist that contained a plethora of his biggest hits that kept the crowd going throughout the night.

    Enthralled by almost 2 1/2 hour performance. A not so pretty 65 year old, Elton works harder than ever before. He says he's happier than ever with his partner, David Furnish and their almost 2 year old son, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish. He says he enjoys performing more than ever before. He can see his fans better since his eye surgery and he sings better now that he's sober and can remember the words. What do I see? A man who certainly doesn't need the money; he gives a lot to charity. A man seeking fame? He couldn't have more already. Just a man who enjoys entertaining; giving us himself. What comes through in most of his music? Love; of life, of humanity. We might learn the secret that I believe Elton lives: if we foolishly give away all the love we think we can possibly have inside us, we find there's an ever abundant, increasing supply.
