Metallica at Bonnaroo - The crowd at Bonnaroo packed What Stage to see Metallica on the start of their 2008 World Tour.  This was one of the biggest events to take main stage at Bonnaroo or anywhere else in the U.S. for that matter.  A perfect evening, Metallica rocked out the Tennessee farm where the music festival is held.  Metallica's current band members are James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo.

Best Concert Photos of the Decade - Concert Photography - Metallica at Bonnaroo

While it may be hard to imagine some of what the next 10 years in live music will have to offer it is not hard to look back at the last decade of music at Performance Impressions.  Approaching 200 concert and festivals archived at Performance Impressions' live music photography archive, there is no shortage of memories looking back at the past decade of my music photography galleries.  In the next few days as we approach the end of 2009, I will share some of my most memorable experiences and some of my favorite concert photos.

Bonnaroo 2008 - Bonnaroo is never dull but Metallica brought things to another level of excitement.  Just before heading to Europe on their 2008 world tour, I had the honor of working onstage with Metallica in front of a soldout 100,000 people in the Tennessee night.  Metallica's performance at Bonnaroo was historic.

Furthur Tour Photos - Phil Lesh - Bob Weir - Jeff Chimenti - John Kadlecik - Jay Lane - Joe Russo - December 8, 2009 Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City

Just got the first of the two Furthur shows from the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC up at Performance Impressions.  The December 8 show was good but most people seem to agree that the next night's performance raised the bar a few notches.  After 9/11 Phil befriended many of New York City Firefighters.  About a dozen NYC firefighters came to the Tuesday night performance at Phil's invitation I assume.  Tickets are still on sale for the 2010 Furthur Tour but are selling out.  See below for direct links to purchase Furthur tickets.

Warren Haynes Xmas Jam - 21st Annual Christmas Jam Photos 2009

Once again, as expected, the 2009 Warren Haynes Christmas Jam was a rockin and memorable event full of all star performances.  Warren came out with most of the performers during the music filled evening.  Stax Records legend William Bell shared the stage with Aerosmith's Brad Whitford during Born Under a Bad Sign.  This year's event included Ani DiFranco, George Porter Jr., Jimmy Herring, and many of the Xmas Jam staples: Ron Holloway, Audley Freed and Mike Barnes

Furthur Tour New York City w. Phil Lesh and Bob Weir at Hammerstein Ballroom - Tickets Available for 2010 Tour

Furthur is the Grateful Dead's newest offspring.  With original Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh and Bob Weir - the new lineup now also includes Jeff Chimenti, John Kadlecik, Jay Lane, Joe Russo.  Furthur tickets for the two night run at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City quickly sold out.  Tuesday night's show was more mellow compaired to Wednesday night where the band seemed to really let loose and tear it up.  Lots more photos from the Furthur tour coming up soon at Perfomrance Impressions.

Had a great time photographing the last two nights of Phish's tour at Madison Square Garden.  Phish sold out all three shows at MSG in NYC in less than two minutes.  Despite some offering $200 for tickets, others still managed to find miracles.  Phish live music concert photography galleries w. streaming audio up at Performance Impressions.  Lot more coming soon!

Leonid Meteor Shower Photograph Over Asheville

Spent a few hours last night up on a mountainside watching the Leonid Meteor Shower. One spectacular meteor streaked by before I set my camera up. Despite seeing many, most were short and brief and after many 30 second exposures, I still had yet to capture one. Then, on the last photo, where I had the city of Asheville lit up in the photo, a Leonid meteor was captured during the exposure over the city.

Trinumeral Festival Photos - DJ Bowie

The 2009 Trinumeral Festival was an incredible musical experience for many. The awesome array of electronic music performers coupled with several live bands managed to keep the music pumping until daybreak each night of the three day festival. The 999 Trinumeral festival celebrating the rare phenomenon of the date September 9, 2009 - 09/09/09 was three times for many. I had the incredible opportunity of working with the Sun Ra Arkestra and DJ Bowie as their photographer and also caputured several other performances, sites and people at the Deerfields held festival in Horseshoe, NC.

Code Prevented Website from Indexing in Google

After examining a website for a client at the beginning of SEO analysis, I found they were completely absent from indexing in Google—even for their business name.

After looking at their code, I noticed they had code that told the search engine spiders to ignore their website.

I spoke with the owner of the business and he is not sure if his old webmaster left that in by mistake after development or if he put it in after the fact when they had a falling out.

Another possibility is that a competitor had someone hack into their website to add this code. Here is the code and the explanations for the three items in their robots meta tag.

Using meta tags to block access to your site

To entirely prevent a page's contents from being listed in the Google web index even if other sites link to it, use a noindex meta tag. As long as Googlebot fetches the page, it will see the noindex meta tag and prevent that page from showing up in the web index.

The noindex meta standard is described at http://www.robotstxt.org/meta.html. This method is useful if you don't have root access to your server, as it allows you to control access to your site on a page-by-page basis.

To prevent all robots from indexing a page on your site, place the following meta tag into the section of your page:

meta name="robots" content="noindex"



next to the noindex in your 4th line of code is the code "noodp" see what this does:

Prevent search engines from displaying DMOZ data in search results for your site

To prevent all search engines (that support the meta tag) from using this information for the page's description, use the following:

meta name="robots" content="NOODP"

To specifically prevent Google from using this information for a page's description, use the following:

meta name="googlebot" content="NOODP"




If you use the robots meta tag for other directives, you can combine those. For instance:

meta name="googlebot" content="NOODP, nofollow"

Sometimes, if you are listed in DMOZ (ODP), the search engines will display snippets of text about your site taken from them instead of your description meta tag.

You can force the search engine to ignore the ODP information by including a robots meta tag like this meta name="robots" content="noodp"

Girl Talk Photos from Bonnaroo

Girl Talk put on one of the best performances at the 2009 Bonnaroo Music Festival. The amazing mixes borrowed from several genres of music. The crowd kept That Tent packed till the early hours of the morning. Girl Talk performer Gregg Gillis shared the stage with dozens of dancing fans. Their was no clear line where the stage ended and the crowd began.

Phish with Bruce Springsteen at Bonnaroo

What will definitely be remembered as one of the top musical moments of the summer if not the decade, Bruce Springsteen stood in should to shoulder with Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon as he performed Mustang Sally and Glory Days with Phish. It was absolutely insane, it had all the elements of a summer blowout performance, an awesome choice of tunes, perfect weather, a huge crowd a rare performance with a rarer guest star performer following four days of amazing performances. Bonnaroo once again spared no expense making the 10 staged festival a seemless party that is certain to be the "time of their life" for many.
